I was hired for a dental reception position and was in training prior to my start date at their new location. I would wake up at 5am and commute 2 hours by bus there and back every day. I shadowed the current receptionists and tried to absorb as much information as quickly as I could. There had been no prior meeting with me about my progress or advising me of the standards I had to meet. I had not been given an offer of employment/contract to sign as they hired/fired me all via phone calls. I'm now at risk of losing the lease on a room I'm renting and I have nowhere else to go. I have nothing written in writing aside from my own notes of transcribed phone calls. I was specifically fired because according to them “I wasn't who they were looking for”. I've never been fired from a job before and I'm trying my best now to get back on my feet. Everyone so far has told me there's nothing I can do but it just doesn't feel fair.
