Was I fired unjustly?
I have been working for an Event/Party equipment Rental company for a little over 2 months now. Last Friday my supervisor called me to tell me that I was fired. When I asked why he gave me a multitude of reasons.
1) He told me it was because I took too long to complete a delivery. I don’t do deliveries, and they know that. Only rarely. But I was asked to anyways. The delivery was 1 hour going, and 1 hour coming back. I took three hours to complete the delivery and return to the warehouse. I left the warehouse at 9 AM and it was scheduled to be delivered by 12. I delivered it by 11. And drove back. Made it back by 12. Moderately heavy traffic that day.
They also have me use the scissor forklift in the warehouse often even though I have none of the licenses required by OSHA but this is a separate issue that I am only bringing up to emphasize their lack of professionalism.
2.) He told me I returned the stake truck to the warehouse with barely any gas in it left.
(I do not have and never was provided with a company credit card so I would not have been able to fill it with gas even if I wanted to) but I am still responsible.
- This one has nothing to do with the first two reasons. But apparently one of my coworkers had complained that I was sitting down at a break area and their wallet was on the table. I did not touch her wallet. Nothing was missing from her wallet. And my supervisor is aware of that. Apparently it still made her uncomfortable. He said it’s not about if I stole from her wallet, I shouldn’t have been sitting there next to her wallet in the first place. Like….Wtf.
Reasons 1) & 2) happened 4-5 days before they fired me. Reason 3) happened on my last day. I was fired the following day via phone call on my day off.
