I (17F) just recently got my first job working at a pizza place a month ago. Fine, right?
For a first job expierence working on weekends it's cool and all, and I am supposed to be paid decently (at least to me – minimum wage only gets you so far)
Of course I was scheduled to work my shift for the Super Bowl, took peoples orders etc. I come in on weekends, but the next time I came in on Saturday after the bowl I was greeted with being left off the schedule for the following day and this upcoming week.
I was told by one of my managers to call the owner who makes the schedules – he told me he would talk to me about it later but never showed up by the time I left. Call again to confirm I'm supposed to be left off the schedule the next day, and get the opportunity to go into the store physically and talk to the people there. Turns out I was left off the schedule, and somehow they have too many people working so I was left off. Somehow it changed from needing me to come in whenever I could to leaving me out on my set days. I'm not sure if they just needed me for that point in time and are going to fire me soon, but all I know is that I'm uncertain of my working hours for now on, since when I try to call the manager to ask questions, I get no response. Is this a common occurrence to be treated like this? My manager also told me if I was doing anything severely wrong he'd let me know, and for my first few weeks working there I thought I was doing fine in training.
One other thing – I've been told being paid in cash is not permitted in that store, but I was paid with cash without any taxes taken out of it – but only got money for half the time I was working there. I need advice on how to proceed, because I really don't have the expierence to judge for myself.
