I won't specify what kind of job or what field, but I had some experience in that field and I explained to my boss what I did and didn't know in the interview.
He said “We don't expect you to be perfect by 3 months and it's about 6 months to fully know the job.” Which yeah, that's pretty standard.
They had me doing things that most people shadow 2-3 weeks for on my 2nd day, which I was not really comfortable doing.
There was very little explanation on really how things are done, why things are done a certain way, safety measures, etc. My trainer kept telling me I was doing “a really good job” until I was just pulled aside today and told “I'm sorry but it's not working out”.
I should have not taken the job as I often see them hiring on Indeed (obviously high turnover).
Overall he made me very uncomfortable because it was very hard to get a gage on how he felt toward my work ethic and instead of correcting me in the moment or explaining the whys and whats it was just passive aggressive quiet judgement, which makes for a really oppressive work environment.
It's a shame because the other people there were really nice.
I've literally never had this happen to me in my life.
