Was there a work problem you could have avoided if you were an asshole? Am I at fault for being too nice?

I have been contemplating quitting my job due to an unwelcome / discomforting person in the workplace. However I keep revisiting memories and interactions. For reference, I’m in my mid 20’s Asian, my coworker is I believe 15-20 years older Caucasian. It wouldn’t be a big deal except for the fact that I’m not a mid 20’s girl who is mature and looking older – I often get mistaked for younger age. My height doesn’t help being about 5’4” (he looks just over 6’) Generally both in work and out of work if I meet eye contact with someone, I smile and say good morning With this guy I asked how he is, or wishing him a happy weekend, that I believe he took as something else. I was really just meaning to be friendly but I realize it may be a fault of mine. Unfortunately this is has escalated…

Unfortunately this is has escalated in to something bad that I made another post on. Has this ever happened to you? Asides from this one guy I feel happy at the work and sad to leave
