Back in 2018, I worked at an office where an employee had a mental break and started making late-night death threats to some employees. It was known he had firearms, so a restraining order was issued and his guns were taken away. But the police admitted that they “couldn't find” one of the firearms registered in his name.
Most of the employees asked to work from home while this was sorted out, and the answer was a clear “no.” They instead decided to hire a private security firm to stand at the door (and come to our Holiday Party).
But many of us had to walk to our cars or just to get lunch. We again asked to work from home.
The final answer? “We know that many of you own guns. If you feel safer, just bring them to work.”
That's when I started job hunting.
