Water Delivery

I have been debating on posting this, but I'm finally going to do it. its going to be a book, sorry about that. I'm also not going to hold any thing back either, Steve doesn't deserve any better. I worked for a small company in Lynnwood, Washington called Allwater. I delivered 5 gallon bottles of waters for coolers at business, and a couple of residences. lets break down all of the shitty things Steve did. I was hired on at 18 dollars an hour. I had booked a vacation in Hawaii before applying, and worked there for about 2 months before going. vacation was amazing. i got back and he stayed cordial – talking about the stuff he liked to do and see in Hawaii, everything seemed fine. i had a set of deliveries up north every Thursday, and one of my stops was the Marysville Department of natural resources.…

I worked for a small company in Lynnwood, Washington called Allwater. I delivered 5 gallon bottles of waters for coolers at business, and a couple of residences. lets break down all of the shitty things Steve did.
I was hired on at 18 dollars an hour. I had booked a vacation in Hawaii before applying, and worked there for about 2 months before going. vacation was amazing.
i got back and he stayed cordial – talking about the stuff he liked to do and see in Hawaii, everything seemed fine.
i had a set of deliveries up north every Thursday, and one of my stops was the Marysville Department of natural resources. their account was tied with Snohomish county sheriffs office.
DNR was not happy with us, and i had only delivered there twice. the way that my route was set up for me, they were near the end of the day. after large businesses and schools. i had run out of water once or twice and unable to deliver, however calling them they said they had a couple full bottles and it wasn't a big deal.
finally they ran out of water. they cancelled. along with Snohomish county sheriffs office. this was a month after my vacation, and only after the 2nd time I've delivered to them
the blame was placed on me, even though the issues started long before I got there.
“so, that was a big loss, so I'm going to have to drop you to 16 dollars an hour.”
oh shit… I cant believe i did that to us… I'm such a piece of shit..
this dude gaslight me hard. I thought that I had actually fucked up.

Marysville again – its a hot early june week. Schools are out of water, the huge metal shop was out, and the huge lumber yard was out. i ran out of water half way through the day. loading was an hour long ordeal, and getting and forth would have cost me 3 hours, so it didnt make sense to go load again.
Somehow, this was my fault. he told me to give the lumber yard usage – plus one. that should save me a lot to complete the route.

fast forward to the next year. same thing. a warm early june week – BUT! I got this. usage plus one. this cut back the amount of total bottles at the lumber yard, but it turns out i had could finish the route!

I get back – “WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!”

“what you told me? usage plus one, right?”
“GODDAMN IT! FUCK WE NEED TO MAKE AN EXTRA TRIP! YOURE COSTING ME A TON OF MONEY”

“Dude i did what you told me to do.”

“NEVER do that again, you hear me?'

This was my last summer there.

There were half a dozen bounced checks, with him saying “this is why you have to save some money!”
bro you have to just.. pay me.

My wage btw, is 16******* but its 11.50 (at the time) with ~bonus~ to make it 16. he did not pay me overtime. it was on the paycheck, but the ~bonus~ was built to build to the 16 dollars an hour. so i never actually got my real time and a half. I took a job that was 15 after that, and worked a 50 hour week. I made 200 dollars more that week.

Fast forward to my last month there. i became the senior driver, its a small team so it wasnt hard.
“Steve, im the senior driver now, can i go back up to 18 an hour??”

he looks at me – disgusted. “What do you spend your money on?”

i just said “ok.” and walked away. i did a phone interview during my route, and got the job.

ive since left that job, and have been working as a transit coach operator since the beginning of 2019. im making 11 an hour more than Allwater, and have full benefits, 3 weeks vacation time, and legitimately enjoy my job

the job i left that place for was.. fine.. but it was 24 hours on call and i was just tired all the time. it wasnt sustainable.
