I moved to a run down city in the rust belt last year to get away from my abuser while pregnant. I was getting stimulus checks over the summer and staying with a friend. My friend decided to be a pervert and thought “if I’m not getting laid, she needs to go” and started a bs argument to kick me out. I had a job lined up because my stimulus money was about to run up. It was with a temp agency and boy was that a nightmare. I ended up getting my way with remote work only by simply saying no and I stayed 1 year. I was able to walk away from my computer and sometimes even sleep in with my baby towards the end. I could login to Teams on my phone and go run errands. I still got more than enough of my work done but it was still high stress, high demand.
So I took a job which is 100 percent remote and I thought it would be more laid back, same kind of deal. Well, my boss is pretty new (2 months in) and is determined to make the department better than ever before. I could kind of cheat my OT with the last company but this one says no overtime at all, so I’m basically making less and working more. New boss wants to do stupid little social huddles on slack and I have to take my daughter to daycare almost 5 days a week. I was ok with 3, but fuck this. I’m also just barely paying my bills and savings is gone due to attorney fees for my other child. (Dad is being a Dick about custody).
Does anybody have suggestions on how to completely half ass this job and barely work?
I don’t want to sit for an hour and hear about my bosses messy divorce. We’re not friends. I want to barely talk. I’m with a damn staffing agency again but I believe I can do freelance work again and another business I run….. I can’t afford to lose this job or we’ll be homeless but fuck, I hate it.
