As a long time lurker and 2nd time poster, I look at all the problems America faces. It all seems to be so overwhelming for just one person to make a difference. There are so many ways They divide us. Vax – Anti vax Pro life – Pro choice Black – White Right – Left
But we agree on so many more things, the list is endless.
Need for term limits, SCOTUS included
Age limits on elected officials
Universal Healthcare
Tax overhaul
student debt
Infrastructure
Private businesses utilizing and profiting off our data without compensation
Ranked voting
Super PACs and Lobbyist money to DC
Big Pharma money to DC
Insurance overhaul
Politicians insider trading
Minimum wage
How to fix all these problems seems impossible But…what if there was a way to bypass RNC/DNC Washington, DC status quo. They do not serve us. They are part of the problem. Each party, DNC, RNC, does as little as possibly can to make meaningful changes. It doesn't matter which who is in office, there is always an excuse why things important to Americans don't get done. “the other side has control of Presidency or Congress, or War” Always a reason.
The Founding Fathers added Article 5, A Convention of States to bypass the President, Senate and House. It has never been used, and I can think of no better time to use it than today. I can already hear the Left leaning say Convention of States is a Right wing contrivance No, its Right wing now because more right leaning states have joined. It's similar to a teeter-totter. If more Left leaning states joined it would even out.. Committees would be formed to discuss, debate, compromise, and implement real change. Governors and State Congress need to be told by their constituent's what we want. It's a lot easier to deal with Governor's and State reps than Washington DC elites
38 states are need to convene a Convention of States. 19 have already joined. 6 more states have passed one chamber but not the other. New Mexico, Iowa, South Dakota, Virginia, North Carolina, and New Hampshire. 22 States are considering it.
It is very similar to forming a Union. No one agrees on everything, but agree on enough to vote together on important issues.
What a fine feeling it would be to be able to boot the DC establishment out, and not a thing they could do about it. What do we have to lose. If 2/3 of States do not join, then nothing changes, we will all go down the path we are on.. but if we band together against the powers that be, great change is possible. So, what would you fix if the power of the American Union behind you? Together we can do anything. Do your research and contact your Governor
