“We Are a Family Here”

I just started a job about a month ago and it’s a corporate hell hole. The only reason I haven’t left is because they are paying me handsomely. It’s already not started off well. Made the mistake of telling a girl how much I was getting paid (she asked) and apparently it was a lot more than everyone else so everyone hated me from the start. Then they didn’t like me because for lunch I like to go sit in my car and get tf away from work for a minute and they all have a “team lunch” every day. No thanks. No thanks.

My main problem though is the weird creepy “we are a family vibe” going on. They are constantly inviting me to after work “team building” activities and every time I say no they are rude to me at work. I don’t know how many times I can politely say “no.” I’m here to work, not make friends and none of them seem to understand that concept. Anyone have advice on how to get them to stop freaking asking me without being a total bitch?

I feel like you can’t win. Either need to work some corporate crap job to make money or take an unlivable wage and that still doesn’t guarantee you’ll be left the hell alone. Anyway. Rant over but for real if anyone has had to deal with the “we are a family” bullshit I’d love to hear how you handled it.
