We complained about shitty pay and they were proud to announce a 2.7% raise for everyone

I work as a Nurse’s Aide at a care center in the Midwest. (Grueling work. Concrete flooring, on your feet 8 hours straight, back and knee pain, the works.) Anyways, my coworkers and I were pulled off the floor to go to an hour long bullshit staff meeting. They wanted to let us know “we’re a family here and they realize our main complaints are about pay” so they are patting themselves on the back for a fucking “2.7% raise across the board in October” 2.7% of $18 is roughly fucking $0.54. And we have to work through a fucking pandemic and shitty staffing ratios on top of it. Oh and you know how they thanked the nurses for their 20 year work anniversary? They got a tee shirt. And awarded all the staff in upper management with gift cards. They wasted an hour of my time and now I’ll…

They wasted an hour of my time and now I’ll have to stay an hour late getting my work done. So great, I’ll be stuck here till 11pm and I have to be up at 4:30am for a 16 hour shifts tomorrow and Saturday.

Fuck this job.
