we don’t clock in, we check in

short but sweet, from a friend–their job just did an overhaul of the HR system including the time clock…they no longer “clock” in, they “check” in. maybe i've been on r/antiwork too long but that gives me the heebie jeebies because it seems like a way to make it sound less like work? like, you check in at a hotel. you check in on friends and family members. when. go to work, i punch a clock because it is work. am i looking too far into this? my friend is already nervous bc of upcoming merges and stuff and i told her to start looking :/
