It feels like we have reached a crisis level. I don't even understand why this needs to be a partisan issue. Whether you are a far left socialist or a working class conservatives, I think the idea that anyone working 40 hours a week at any job who can barely afford to live is just not sustainable. The majority of working class Americans can't afford to buy homes, start families and are drowning in debt that they can never get out of. Anyone who sacrifices their time and enters the work force should be able to eat and live at a relatively comfortable level. No one should have to make a decision between getting a cup of coffee and paying rent. We need to stop shaming and scapegoating people for their choice of occupation. Not everyone can or wants to be a doctor. When you go through a drive through someone has to prepare and hand you your food. They are contributing to society just like everyone else and should be compensated for their time.
I have almost become a one issue voter. I don't have time for any politician who isn't talking about raising wages, taxing the rich, free health care, free college and eliminating debt.
What could possibly be more important in a country than the quality of life for it's citizens?
