All the systems that we have as options today have three important things in common, capitalism, communism, socialism, totalitarianism etc were all (1)conceived and codified solely by a small handful of men, (2)over a hundred years or more ago when (3)the global population was barely above 1 Billion.
Women didn't have a say in any of these models even though they make half of the population, for that matter neither did the majority of cultures or groups around the globe. Also, global literacy two hundred years ago was roughly 12%, today it's around 86%.
I think the reason all these systems fail the majority of people in practice is partly based on this history. Time and again these systems benefit a select few at the expense of the many.
Additionally we have two things at our disposal that didn't even remotely exist back then, instant global communication and a global personal computer network.
I think we have enough clever minds to come up with a multi faceted system that caters to different types of people across society, instead of a ham-fisted one size fits all. Preferably something that does not hinge on the exploitation of others.
We have to try, I believe, because this planet belongs to all of us, not just a small handful of rich people and because I'm tired of seeing my friends, family and even strangers suffer when the resources are there for it not to be the case.
