“We need you to be in the office because we work collaboratively”

During covid went to working from home, while industry came to a grinding halt. On the flip side, the customers we dealt with were actually working so there was no “quoting for work which might come in 6-8 years”. So work flow being minimal actually meant less wasted time, conversions from quotes to orders went through the roof. As soon as it was ‘suggested’ and not ‘required’ to work from home my work brought us back into the office, (still doesn’t sit right with me and I’m one of only 3 in the entire company who has managed to avoid covid this long), reasoning given was that we work best collaboratively. I hate it! One of my coworkers has to comment on everything. Typing too quickly? “You don’t need to write an essay you know!”. Not typing enough? “If you’re not doing anything I’ve got work I can give you…

I hate it!

One of my coworkers has to comment on everything. Typing too quickly? “You don’t need to write an essay you know!”. Not typing enough? “If you’re not doing anything I’ve got work I can give you instead of sitting doing nothing!”. You mention something nice you have done she’s done it better. Have a trip planned, she will tell you how you’ve already gone wrong. You broke your foot, her friend broke both of theirs. Someone has a complaint about someone, she’s suddenly their biggest defender. She once had a sulk (like a toddler) because someone asked me how to spell a work and after she had butted in I corrected the spelling she gave. It’s just a constant negative commentary to the point where people avoid talking while she’s in the room.

Sorry for the rant but what collaboration did they bring us back into the office for?
