I work at , doing “entry-level job that required a bachelor's of science” at $20 an hour. This is the only job offer I could find that wasn't in a super expensive state. And I do love my job. It's just hard to live on $20 an hour in a city with high taxes, and with student loans. When my boss found out that I work a second job in the evenings, they said jokingly that I'm “paid too much”. How? If I was paid enough to cover rent, utilities, food, transportation, and student loans, I wouldn't have to get a 2nd job. I don't think most employers realize how much getting a bachelor's degree for a specialized field costs; nor how much the cost of living and being taxed to death is.
