To preface this story, I will give you the context: I am a college student who is (was) working as a cook at a restaurant in town. I’ve been working here for the past three months for my summer break and now into school. I’ve never been written up, only called out twice, and work my ass off. We have a temporary manager from another location of the chain who is there to help the store out. Today he had been acting very strange, and all the employees noticed. He was constantly swinging from happy to angry and his eyes were wide open. Every time he spoke it was so fast you could barely understand him. Nearing the end of my shift and noticing it wasn’t very busy, I asked him if he needed me to do anything else before I headed out. He said “stock up all of the ingredients” so I did, I came back to him and told him I did that and he said “great.get back on the line” I said “ok” and went back to my station. I looked at my phone to text my ride that I would be a little longer. The manager says to me “get off your phone and get back to work” I said “there’s no meal tickets and everything is stocked up” he says “do you wanna be fired? Then shut up and get back to work” I say nothing, take off my apron and walk out, as I’m in the eating area, he comes out and in front of all the customers and servers he yells “you’re fired, leave.”. All the other managers and servers are pissed at him. He was obviously high off speed or adderall and every one of the cooks pointed it out amongst ourselves so I know I’m not imagining that he was high. Should I go back to the job if they reach out to me to come back? This manager could potentially be fired for this
