I accepted a new job that started 3 weeks ago. Full-time W2 contract-to-hire doing data consulting, which I've done with several other companies in the past.
After my start date they spent 2 weeks getting all of my access setup with the client. I was finally able to start work on my first project on Wednesday.
They informed me today that since I'm on my contract period I would not be paid for those two weeks when I was waiting around for my access. Only “productive hours” count during the contract phase. No mention of this policy during the interview, and it was only explained to me after submitting my time today.
Why in the holy &$@! did they hire me if they weren't going to pay me while they were getting me setup? That would've been nice to know before I have basically been screwed out of 2.5 weeks pay. I could have just stayed at my previous employer for that time…
3 interviews, a background check, a drug test… Now I'm lining up interviews because fuck this.
