So I've been with my current employer for over a year and a half and in my current position for 10 months. Back when I hit my 1 year anniversary the boss called me and I got a raise. Cool he liked my work and it was a decent raise.
So the thing about the position i'm in is it was offered to me when they decided to demote the guy who previously had it after he well had a minor breakdown and wrote one of those “How the hell did you not get fired” emails.
For the most part he's happy with the switch he likes not working nights anymore and I don't really care. So he was talking to be about how he didn't a raise and he doesn't think anyone else did either.
He asked me in the “Can I assume everyone else also isn't getting a raise” rather than answer I said I don't really look at my paystub I just pay my bills. Which while technically true negates the fact the boss called me personally to give me my raise but how do you have that conversation with the guy you basically inadvertently screwed over.
I know it's entirely his fault for losing this position but man that was an awkward moment.
