Antiwork

Well then…

Without too much detail, I work as an event server in a hotel. I have been here a while now, and have always strived to be a model employee. It’s not a difficult job, just time consuming and can be a bit physically demanding. I’m always at work about a half hour before my shift starts because it is always slammed, so I clock in 15-20 minutes early, and immediately start helping to clear out whatever needs to be done. Last night, I stayed more than 2 hours past my finish time, because there was an event, and they needed the help. When I got to work this morning, I was informed by my manager that even though they clearly needed the help, that I was NOT to clock in early. I shrugged, tossed my bag in the staff room, and promptly sat my backside down in a staff booth in the restaurant. I have been getting side eyes and dirty looks from the manager since. But, fuck it. I’m not doing shit if they’re not gonna pay me for it.

Just watch, next thing I know, I’ll be getting bitched at for “quiet quitting”. Ugh. I like this job, but the management kinda sucks.
