Is there software that exists where companies are able to view your desktop to see what your doing? I know they have access to your search history and ect. but I work from home and when work isn’t busy I just tap my computer screen log enough so it doesn’t fall asleep and my Teams stays “green”. Can they see that I’m not actually working all day( when not actually busy)?
Second part to that, do they know if I am responding or keeping my gTeams active via my phone instead of computer?
My boss mentioned recently that the company knows we’re slow so they aren’t sending out any reports relating to how much we’re “typing on the keyboard” or things like that. She said it very casual and quickly but I thought it was odd because I hadn’t heard of such and kind of confirmed my theory they are monitoring us.
I get they would want to monitor the productivity of people that are working from home. But if the work is getting done efficiently and by the deadlines, shouldn’t that be confirmation enough.
I used to work by myself for a lazy manager who didn’t give a crap what I was doing all day, never even bothered to ask but was never available when needed and very condescending. (Work was getting done so she didn’t care).
Now I’m switched over to a team that requires me to be “green” on teams all day long and my boss micro manages us.
She literally called a random teams meeting yesterday to tell us something random about the plastic that binds 6 pack soda cans….. she even admitted she was wasting our time but “wanted to share”. My husband thinks it was a test to see who would answer/ who was really online.
I can’t decide who was worst between the two managers atp. Being required to “care” about my team members and respond to random conversations from people I never met is exhausting. Why can’t I just do my job and leave.
I guess this is the downside of WFH ?
