This past year as we “come out of COVID” discussions continue on what WFH options look like for different people and different businesses, I have started to hear more and more conversations about WFH in a global market and am interested in hearing from others on it.
For example, a major employer in my area recently made the decision to 'offshore' their entire accounts payable team. They can hire hundreds of people skilled in accounting in countries like India for pennies on the dollar of what they would pay in North America. These were jobs that people in my city were working at, but are no longer.
The types of jobs most discussed are the ones where pretty much the entirety of the work is done from behind a computer screen, so accounting, design/drafting, data clerk, etc.
What do you think the market looks like for these types of jobs in “richer” 1st world countries in the future?
