What are you willing to sacrifice to get promoted?

Senior management had a 1.5 hour conference call yesterday to talk about the future and state of business. A question was asked about what leadership was doing to help promote people that want to get to the next level. Paraphrasing response was: I moved 10 times in 10 years for the company. What are you willing to sacrifice to get promoted? He said the company has a great mentorship program and anybody that wants to promote should get with him. AFAIK, only one (1!) of my 24 coworkers at my level have any kind of path with him. I’ve been here 3 years and it’s the first time I’ve heard of this. Companies like this will continue to fall behind on attracting talent if they do not adapt and keep ruling with the ideologies of outdated mindsets.
