Some of you may remember me some of you may not.
Anyway, I ended up getting a job at an insurance company as their mascot. Super fun, easy going, paid every week, loved the job and even the manager was quite fun and chill. Well that’s what I thought.
I got hired January 12, 2022. Discussed my schedule let her know I need a day or two for school. I worked for about 3-4 weeks and I ended up getting Covid from this facility. I went 2 years without getting Covid throughout the pandemic and immediately got Covid from them and I know because they also got shut down previously months before for having multiple cases of Covid (I wasn’t aware of this until the day they sent me home for coughing and was just a normal cough I didn’t think anything of, this was my Last day there because I tested positive and was sick for about 2 weeks and quarantined till then) I communicated these entire 2 weeks I was quarantined and thought it was weird she wouldn’t read my messages for like 5 days, and when she would, she would leave me on read. I sent her my multiple test results and told her I’d be feeling better soon. I let her know I’d be back the day after my birthday (March 1st) the next day she texts me back with “Hi my apologies for not getting back to you sooner. Im sorry but the position is not available anymore I had to hire someone ASAP per corporate we can't go too long with out a mascot. I really needed someone who has more availability to work a full week. Thank you.” And I said “I literally had contracted Covid from your facility (most likely) I could not help I got sick? Do you WANT me to come to work with Covid?” She said “trust me it wasn’t your fault or because you had covid, we just need a full time person” I was 1. told the position was part time on the phone. Talked over my schedule and she was fine w it. (Then changed her mind or what?) when I also made it clear to her that I also have open availability I just need a day or two off for school. (In case she wanted to add a day to my schedule, call me in or something) She said that was fine. (I am studying to minor in cosmetology and major in forensic physiology.) so I definitely can’t afford to work 7 days, damn. Especially not as a mascot even though I genuinely enjoyed it.
Funny thing to add on is, my dad was also insured at this place but eventually left, about 2 weeks after finding out I got “fired”/“laid off” (with no communication literally took forever to get to me) he received a call about his payment he basically told them “I am moving to a different insurance company.” They had that talk for a few mins and then he casually brings up “hey so what happened to that mascot that use to stand and dance outside?” And didn’t say my name and I was there for the call. She literally goes “oh, we don’t know what happened to them, they never came back” lol. I could’ve went into that building and raised hell if I wanted to. I guess I still could but eh, whatever..
Im just so tired of this. I literally didn’t do anything wrong? And I’m not going to continue to “BEG” jobs and employers, you guys just see us as slaves on our knees begging for coins, it just feels shitty, because if you remember me, I’m in the same spot ONCE again. But I guess everything does happen for a reason?
Edit ; I guess there isn’t anything I can really do. I was told go to EDD office and report the situation, Im just tired and hopeless with these jobs.
