I am trying to get a consensus of what this community feels is a fair wage and how that should be to differing jobs. I know the fight is for 'livable wage' but does that mean the median income for your area regardless of job? What would this community deem fair compensation for a fast food employee vs a brain surgeon for example?
Could you also share details about your job and current wage situation, debt, general state/country etc, (without violating rule 8).
Full disclosure is I have been in the military for the last 16 years and most of that has been deployed or out of touch with society as a whole, and soon I will be re-entering the civilian job market. I currently make ~67k base pay, ~90k with all the extra stipends for my current location. I average about 50-60 hours a week of work, but some weeks I work as little as 3 days, and some weeks I can work 90+
I am just curious if there is a hard goalpost established for fairness across all industries or if this sub is mostly for sharing stories and supposed text messages.
