I can't go into great detail because of an NDA, but basically I'm working a job that requires me to take care of Intellectually disabled people. Right now there's a massive worker shortage because – shocker – people aren't willing to get shat on and assaulted for 15 a goddamn hour.
The delusional people here are going on about how this place is “a gold mine” (actual words said by a co-worker) because you can get 22.50 an hour after overtime kicks in (assuming the timing of pay periods doesn't fuck you over, as it did with another co-worker). Frankly I don't understand these people. Insane overtime (Mr. “This place is a gold mine” literally was talking about doing a 56 hour shift not too long ago) is not a goddamn perk, it's awful. I despise doing overtime because when I do it means the entire day comprises of me working, then going home, loading up on sleeping pills, failing to get a decent night's sleep, all to go back to work on no sleep.
I've only been here for a few weeks and I'm already looking for a new job.
