I was hired through a third party security company to work on behalf of a police department to cover a high profile post. With that said, the company I work for doesn’t give PTO and whenever this post is closed because the people I’m securing aren’t here I don’t get paid for that. All my holidays and the week in between Christmas and New Years no one will be here because they’re all administrative folk.
I came to work sick today and the assistant to the high profile person I’m securing was angry I came to work sick. I explained that I don’t get PTO or sick time and that I don’t get paid for hours I don’t work. Her response was “well that doesn’t seem like a good deal to have accepted.”
When I end up quitting this post because they wanted to treat me like a peasant and not give me basic necessities I hope they remember their own words. They probably won’t.
I also pay almost 80$ a paycheck for health insurance. And, if I want to take off the police department would have to cover me and they have no staff to do so. A few weeks ago when my cat was dying and I had to take off to put him down they were super shitty with me about it. I’m committing an hour each way for this job, why?
