I'm job searching at the moment and have been getting contacted by recruiters through email and LinkedIn. I've never had this happen before, but I've had phone interviews with some.
The interviews go well, they push my application through, and then…Nothing. They don't respond to emails or phone calls, even though they were open to communication during the initial parts of the interaction.
I know that a lot of recruiters are scams, but this also happens with reputable recruiters.
I've had several people tell me that recruiters are a waste of time and they've never been hired through one. The recruiters know nothing about the companies or the type of work you do, they just need to contact a certain amount of people per day and just throw shit at the wall until the company hires someone through them and gives them a commission.
