What happens if you give an employer four weeks notice?

Company policy is that we are expected to give two weeks notice at a minimum. I have two weeks of PTO submitted and approved in our system so I gave my employer four weeks notice in advance of my last day working. Management is upset and trying to go back into the HR system and change my end date to two weeks from the date of the notice, instead of four. Can they do this? Company policy is that if PTO is submitted and approved in the system prior to delivering notice, you are able to take it. My PTO will be paid out regardless. The HR system will not let me change my last date of service on my own, so I’m waiting to see what HR is able to do.
