what happens if you low ball a salary and advice on how to let them know you want more money

I had a call with a recruiter today about a possible job. It sounded interesting and definitely, something I would like to pursue further, so I sent them my resume for him to present to the CEO. The company is a Fortune 500 Media Company. I asked about salary range because I do not want to waste my time and he said they are open as they want to find the right person. This would be a completely new job for me (only using my skills I currently have but different line of work) and I do not have all the info yet as to what they would want in a candidate as that will be discussed in further interviews. I gave a figure of $120-130k range based on the info I had at the time (about 10-20K more than I make now) said but that once I know more…

I gave a figure of $120-130k range based on the info I had at the time (about 10-20K more than I make now) said but that once I know more about the position that figure can change. After getting off the phone doing some research now that I know the company name I think I significantly low balled myself. I should have probably said $140-$150k again this is something so new I honestly do not know what the going rate is in the industry. I live in a very HCOL so I do know it would be higher than other states.

All that said if I do go forward with the interview process how would you go about telling the recruiter my salary requirements changed?

I did ask him to send me a job description so I can get a better understanding of what exactly the company is looking for. On top of that other things besides money that are important to me are Health Insurance, Vacation and Matching 401K so that also has to be factored into the total comp. (Those I have no idea about as this was a quick phone call with an external recruiter)

I am not desperate for a job as I have one but honestly hate it. I just got promoted and it was nothing I was promised in the interview and the manager is a micromanager. I have been there a month and got 0 positive feedback. Everything I do gets questioned so I decided to see what else is out there since it is an employee market and opened my profile on linkenDin for recruiters to contact me.
