What if…an employer was up front about fucking you sometimes and then pre-pay you for it.

I have a job offer for as a Kitchen Manager making $85,000, health insurance, 401k match, 2 weeks PTO (on top of required paid sick leave which is over 1 more week). They said its going to be FIVE 10 hour days, with 1 hour breaks each day, so technically 45 hours 'working'. Two days off per week is guaranteed. If I monetize the perks and PTO, and assume its really 50 hours max per week, its like $34/her. Which is like $10/hr more than I earn right now. This salary is significantly above the market average in my area (Seattle) for a Kitchen Manager position. I asked why it's so high, and I was told by the interviewer it's because Managers are the ones who end up covering or working harder to make the restaurant function, so there will be times you have to work more. Previously, their…

This salary is significantly above the market average in my area (Seattle) for a Kitchen Manager position. I asked why it's so high, and I was told by the interviewer it's because Managers are the ones who end up covering or working harder to make the restaurant function, so there will be times you have to work more. Previously, their manager turnover rate was very high because of overwork and no gaurenteed 2 days off…so the company decided it was going to spend more money to hire 2 more FOH managers and 2 more BOH managers to spread out the work load evenly and gaurentee 2 days off. He also said he can confidently say that 90% – 95% of the time, the 50 hour work weeks promise is kept.

He also said that the salary is higher to “prebake the cost” of working over the agreed upon 50 hours into the salary.

I did the math and even if I end up working 5 hours more per week, or 20 hours more per month, this salary is still justifiable compared to all the competition in Seattle. If he is truthful and 90% of the time, the 50 hour work week is honored, then this is a no brainer.

I don't mind working hard if I'm being compensated well and they are upfront about sometimes getting overworked while there on scheduled days, but 100% never having to come in on my day off.

It kind of sounds like they are admitting that they fuck you ..sometimes, so here is some money in advance, and if we end up not fucking you, just keep the money.

It is a big corporation whose food is beloved. I personally like it from a consumer view as well.

Pre-we are gonna overwork you money…..
