What it means to be hourly

Ok so I do enjoy my job and the people about 80% of the time. However they don’t seem to understand that hourly means when I’m clocked out and gone I’m gone. Heck I’ve informed my bosses and those who work under me I’m taking a day off. I told them all a month ago with regular reminders. Now that the day is getting closer they are all like “ok well if anything goes wrong we will call you” I told them I wouldn’t answer and they all acted shocked. Yes I am a supervisor but here’s some things they ought to know. 1. I am paid by the hour. Meaning once I’m clocked out I’m done. 2. I am taking a day off I requested and had approved a month ago. 3.
3. I am using pto to take this day off.
4. The main reason I’m doing this is cuz I have been working so much I am at max pto I can have saved.
5. I have been informing them of this and ask them regularly if they have any questions for when I’m gone.
All together that means that if you call me while I am off the clock on a day I am using approved pto for I do not have to answer my personal cell phone if I choose not to.
