Long time antiwork lurker / worker here!
I quit my job last month to escape from a toxic industry/work place and low pay (publishing and media). I invested my fuck-this-place energy into a PhD application I'm really hoping to get, but even if I do I won't have any income till October 2023. In the meantime I'm hoping to find some kind of work that doesn't drive me up a wall.
That leads me to ask you lovely antiwork folks: what jobs have you enjoyed or had alright experiences working?
I know asking this won't present a scientific answer, but idgaf. I'm at the point where I need a brainstorm about options that /might not/ be awful, and I think you're a great array of folks to ask! Who better to appreciate that rare occurrence of having a decent time at work of all places.
I figure every answer will be subjective to that person's experience, meaning no one will agree on any one industry, but again idgaf. I just wanna hear what you've had an alright-to-decent time doing (and why, if you have the time!)
Background info on me: I have office experience, am a writer, but also have worked in the crafts/with my hands, as well as in food service. I like working with my body but my mind is also an asset. Pay isn't a huge factor as much as quality of life, and I got a civil union last month to get on my partners insurance so I'm lucky enough to not need a job to be entirely full-time/benefits. Also a leftist, but posting here might already tell you that.
