What law does this violate?

I live in NYC & got hired at $17/hr for a retail job. I even have the email as proof to back this up. I already worked one shift and when I checked today adter clocking out to make sure my correct in and out time was recorded, my wage stated it was $15/hr. What law does this violate? I already sent an email to management but if they try to tell me that I will only be making $15 instead of $17 I want to let them know what actual exact law that is in violation of. I was never told ONCE about a wage change.
