I live in Sweden and a month ago I was sent home from work due to a work related panic and anxiety attack. I went to a doctor (for free) who put me on sick leave untiI 30/6, as I was extremely stressed and depressed.
For the first 2 weeks, I get 80% of my salary paid by my work place , no questions asked, no note needed. After that, I need a note that the doctor sends to my employer, and then I ask for support from the government. The government is tough, but will pay you some money to live, as long as you can show you cannot work
My boss has been nothing but supportive throughout this time, and has clearly expressed that they want me to be okay when I come back, and that they wish that this do not ever happen again. He has asked that we create a plan that will make the work load more manageable when I get back. You might Wonder what I do at this stage? I am a restaurant manager
I do not want to brag, but simply point out what can happen if your employer treats you like a human
Edit: I spoke to my manager today and he said that health is more important than anything else.
