After putting up a fight today (again) about not working for free, I was told that unpaid overtime is a thing here because this job is a 'career' and not just a job. After pointing out that many other people in the company are effectively working for free, including my line manager, she told me that the reason she puts up with it is that after enough promotions she will be able to cut her hours to 4 days a week. What planet are these people living on!?
