I’m an upper level IT person at an IT company. I’ve worked there for 3 years, 2 of those 3 completely remote.
The owner / operator is disconnected because we grew too fast while he was otherwise encumbered with life and now it’s way bigger than a small business. Middle management is taking advantage of this and does not believe in COVID, or working from home (to validate his own job). I came in for a couple weeks 2 days a week when COVID was lower.
I have serious health issues despite looking healthy in my 20s. Caught COVID at my job (they’re not reporting cases) and almost died, then got sick 4 more times so I’ve been out a bit over a month. I’m being bullied by middle management who is in the ear of our owner operator, to come in and work in a dirty warehouse with black mold issues, in a bad part of town, when they’re aware of my health concerns. Now theyre asking 3 days a week for their “growing company”, but we didn’t sell a big deal yet that would require anything additionally from me. Every time I come in I get sinus problems for days after. Not that it matters, but I was promised a private office and I have people constantly on my case trying to get me to help them otherwise and get no work done.
I built this company essentially from a small business to a growing cutting edge medium sized business, and I did that all while working remotely.
Not sure what angle I should take on it, but eventually it’ll be new job and contracting on the side. I need this income and health insurance right now though. Does anyone have any advice? I’ll answer questions you have ASAP if it would help get a better response.
