I'm sorry if this doesn't go here, but I think this is the place where you could help me and give me some advise.
I'm new to this company, I began working there this month. I think I have some friends, or some coworkers that I have affinity with, so I talk with them the most. There are a lot of “older people” (over 50) working there.
The other day, we went out drinking, and I mostly listened what they were saying. I know I don't really know most of them, but it surprised me how they were willing to speak badly of them: how they use excuses to leave work (specifically regarding one of my “friends”, which I knew she was sick at the time), how others waste time (one of the “older”, which likes me a lot, and I've been watching them and what they said didn't make sense to me), and other things that I don't remember because I was a little drunk and I stopped paying them attention.
I just stood to the side, listened, and now I'm wondering if I should have done something. Perhaps it wasn't my place to say anything because I'm quite new, but now that I'm going to work this thing is bothering me a little.
Today I will just pretend that nothing happened.
I just have to add that it is not a toxic environment, and I like working there. I just don't know what to feel right now.
What would you have done? Do you have any advice to give?
