I put in my 'request' for a day off months ago. I bought tickets to see my girlfriends favorite band for her birthday, and we have friends driving 8 hours to see them with us. There's no way I'm going into work tomorrow after giving them so much notice that I wouldn't be available. So I'm just trying to find a creative reason why I can't come in. I did just have COVID a couple of weeks ago, so that's not going to work.
I'm pretty much mentally checked out of this job, and have been looking at exit strategies as of late. That said, I know they can't afford to lose me because so many others are jumping ship and they're extremely short staffed, so I know I'm safe regardless of how they react to my excuse. I just wanna save face until I have something else lined up.
At the moment, I'm leaning into a family emergency or my dog being sick, but I wanna see what's worked for others.
