I work for a national US based medical equipment supply company, with multiple locations across different states. In my warehouse it’s just me and one other coworker; my direct boss lives 8 hours from me and the CEO lives states away.
My coworker and I get paid a lot more than others in the same position as us. This is because the cost of everything is extremely high due to our economy being tied to the oilfield. In fact, HR told me that when they posted the job at the normal rate they offer, they didn’t get any sort of calls or feedback until they raised the wage online.
Well as we all know, the cost of everything keeps going up ridiculously. My yearly review with my raise will be coming up soon, and given what my coworker got, I’ll get getting the same thing. I have no issue with my pay raise based on my performance, but, I am planning on telling my boss that I need a cost of living adjustment in conjunction with my raise. They know that this area is more expensive to live in than others (although judging on Indeed listings other places aren’t getting nearly enough it seems).
I know inflations as a whole is nearly 7.5%, but are there any tools out there that can calculate a more accurate percentage for the area that I’m in so I can use that as a means to backup my request that I need more money?
I have to children and the cost of everything keeps increasing. It’s only fair that a million dollar healthcare company keeps up with that on my end as well.
