What’s the consensus?

Context: I have been working at a seafood restaurant and bar for almost 2 years now. During that time I applied for a busser position. I came in to be reassigned as a server. I had been serving for a year when the bar-back position opened and here we are. I am now currently one of the two bartenders. In which I have studied and taken the required courses. While on the other hand the other bartender has little experience, gives major discounts, and solely focuses on regulars. The list could go on. Within the past month there has been several changes in management, happy hour, permissions to void and discounts, etc etc. Which leads me to the current state of my job. In which my coworker (the other bartender) has decided he is now the “bar manager.” Stating to costumers he decides my tip split and most recently has changed my schedule from part-time to full-time. A 15 hour+ increase. Of course during this time of new management I have been doing all I can to pick up hours and essentially be there full time. Here is the BUTT (I’m referring to myself in a comedic fashion.) This week has been hell for me. After a month of picking up shifts, extra hours to do entirely all of the bar work/prep, helping servers on the floor and making 80% of cocktails total. I have gotten the biggest headache of my life today.

end act 1 (sorry I like putting puns in bad formatted rants.)

Let’s start with yesterday morning. I woke up to my both my nostrils closed, fever, headache, and chills. This was possibly congestion but point is I could not breath. Immediately when I went to work I asked to take a covid test. 3 hours after the management came into work I was then allowed to go test. I took the test and it came back negative. So essentially “if youre not in the hospital you better come work.” Stayed the full day even though I was struggling and assumed it would pass. Even stayed an hour later for the phillies/eagle games to wrap up (unpaid and happens regularly.) Right before I was heading out of work the other bartender said “You’re coming in tomorrow morning right?” I responded with a wtf? I then messaged the work group chat announcing “New schedule effective this week or next week??” Got no reply. Then messaged multiple managers with these two questions.

  1. “Is other bartender the bar manager?”
  2. “Does other bartender decide how much tip I get at the end of the night? (He mentioned to his costumers a couple times that he did)”

I also included that this would determine my schedule because I would in fact quit if the answers were yes. These quotes were sent to 3 managers/owners. They all proceeded to throw the responsibility of an answer to each other. 🙂

Turns out I have been more sick than I would have thought because I could not breath, chills, fever, extreme fatigue. Told my gf (who works as the host) to message the bosses at 10am that it was not possible for me to work today. I then get calls at 1pm asking why am I not in yet. I then proceeded to blow up over the phone and then text about this whole matter. Insisting at this point to hire a new bartender and changing me back to a server or I would just leave. Of course I got a couple apologies but at this point we get to the question. Is it time for me to leave this job?

My side hobbies only include stock and sneaker trading which cannot support a family of 4. There is so many other details but I am still feeling really bad so for now please comment wit meaningful advice.
