What’s your best story about leaving a boss shocked/speechless without quitting?

Before I went to University, I started my BA at 27, I was working as a property manager for a nationwide Estate Agents (realtor) in the UK. As an artist, I’m a little eccentric and one day my old manager, a chain-smoking lifelong company employee, asked if I was gay. Without skipping a beat I replied “Oh honey, I don’t have the gag reflex for that” before immediately answering the phone in my corporate “Good afternoon, you’re speaking to LordDaem” voice. I put down the Phone and she had no idea what to say. I’d never seen that woman speechless before or since
