So I just had a fun day…
I was recently hired for a remote work company. They insisted that I come in to the home office for on boarding. Now this was news to me and was also quite the treck. Due to distance and heavy traffic. So I get there at the appointed time, a several hour journey. Only to be told they are having issue getting things ready so I can sign them and do training and so on. So instead we visit some and I start asking questions and being informed of a work day.
This is when red flags go up. I am informed, the several hour trip of 100 miles no mileage or paid travel time. Then I am to report to trainer an hour away also nothing compesated. So I did this for those couple of days. Then I was told to come back up to home office today. Made the trip again, brought up the DOL website. Told them I need to be paid for the travel time. Was told, over talked, rudely and sternly repeated it is not company policy. I said, look I don't want to have to file a DOL claim for this. Just read the info. They, several people at this point. Refused. Was told to make my little claim and see how far I get. So I quit on the spot. Then more drama ensued, honestly still processing that.
