My Wife's story.

Background: My wife returned to a call center work from him job at the request of a friend who was working there who became a manager, he then left within two weeks of her starting back up. She just had a hysterectomy and is still recovering. She took two weeks off after the surgery and then started working from home again.

The story:

Within 3 days of her returning to work after her surgery the new supervisor went on vacation. Due to her being the most experience user she was asked to step up as temporary supervisor (no bonus or pay increase). In the 4 days she has been performing the role she has been hassled by management for not meeting SLAs while trying to juggle a busy incoming call period. Handing questions from the new hires who are on the phones with minimal training and trying to make the follow up calls that only the supervisor can do. not to mention trying to keep up with people calling out or just not showing up. She has been working 9 hour days with no lunch or breaks. (I filed a report with the state labor board/AG because she isnt the only one not getting the legally required breaks)

Today: She is on week 3 of a 6-8 week recovery. Due to the stress and extended sitting time she has been in a large amount of pain from the surgery. I convinced her to call out today and take some recovery time. I also asked her to send a message to the Call center manager stating that she would be stepping down as supervisor as she cannot keep up with the duties at this time, i am not sure if she has done it yet. However within an hour and a half of calling out the call center manager has sent her repeated emails asking her to log in for at least a little bit of time today and even went so far as to offer a bonus in her paycheck for doing so. This is when you know the management knows they are fucked for the day.
