When the federal minimal wage is higher in several Western European countries than it is in America, you know something is wrong.

So it's quite known that salaries in Western Europe are way lower in the US. Most people earn between 1800 – 4000 euros (2000 dollars – 4400 dollars roughly, and that's before taxes) a month. I'm one of them, I'm French and my salary is in this range. However, one thing that really surprises me, is that the minimum hourly rate in the USA is 7.25 dollars an hour…before taxes. If you take into account the fact that rents are on average way higher, that healthcare will give you a life-long debt, that student debt is through the roof, and that life in general is incredibly expensive…how can this even happen? How the HELL is someone supposed to live with 7.25 dollars an hour in America? There's nothing shameful about earning a minimum wage, I'm not far from that myself at the moment (kinda going through a transition), what's shameful…

There's nothing shameful about earning a minimum wage, I'm not far from that myself at the moment (kinda going through a transition), what's shameful however, is when the wage in question is that low.

This is so wrong…
