When you aren’t even told when everyone takes a break

Happened today, and is just one of many reminders for me to fucking quit my job. Worked together with a few, including the departement manager, in the basement. some actual hands-on work as a team, cleaning out a filter, messy work. Everyone then goes upstairs to help out the guy with the vacuum tanker, meanwhile I take a water hose and flush away the leftover dirt and filter material so my colleagues don't get it on their shoes and carry it through the building.. I spent like 30 minutes doing that, very thoroughly, until I noticed that the others were gone and not upstairs anymore. Ended up finding them in the break room taking breakfast, nobody bothered to tell me, a colleague, they just helped the tanker guy and.. left. “It's your fault, why didn't you check the clock?” is basically what the newbie colleague told me then. Easy answer:…

Easy answer: there are NO functioning clocks anywhere in the building except the break room. Why didn't I check my phone? Because its messy work and I'm not willing to damage/ruin my phone by carrying it everywhere with me. And a wrist watch is just more hassle than its worth with changing batteries, or spending a fortune for a high quality one.

This wasn't even the first case. I still remember in my apprenticeship times, was working by myself on a task I was given, then the old departement manager eventually comes around and is shocked I'm still working.. turned out they had a 60+minutes long lunch break and nobody told me, and being completely into my work I didn't notice.. all our breaks are currently 60+ minutes long, twice a day, and I essentially never get told people are going to take the break even if they are with me. They just get up and go away without telling ME at least, everyone else seemingly always knows.

Happens all the time actually, recently more than usual. They don't care about me, despite it being a fairly small departement with like 6 employees, nobody bothers to tell me anything. Today, after the thing with the breakfast break, they even didn't bother telling me about lunch break either.. If the other colleague didn't check on what I'm doing and tell me about lunch break afterwards, I would've continued working while my colleagues grilled themselves some sausages upstairs happily.

Really, I don't care anymore, fuck those people. They don't bother telling me about my break? Fine then, I'll take a break myself when I feel the fuck like it, and will take as long as they do. They need my help with something after their break? too bad, I was just working, now I'm taking a break, your problem now. But it still feels terrible to be seemingly of this little importance to anyone that they tell the apprenticeship, the caretaker, even the vacuum tanker driver about the break but completely ignore the fact I'm missing from the table for an entire hour, TWICE..
