I want to start by saying that I still firmly believe in what this subreddit has become, a place to unite in combatting mistreatment by employers and find solidarity with our fellow workers. However, the recent events have show us that we are not necessarily aligned in that being the goals, nor are those goals represented by our moderation team.
I think every effort that the existing moderation team have made have just gone further to showing the deep fractures in the movement, and maybe that's not their fault? I recognize that what the sub has become is not necessarily aligned with what the original intentions of the sub were and much of the divide seems to be the inherent conflict there.
So, my question to the collective is “what now?” How do we get back to moving forward? Do we move to another subreddit? If so, where? Do we start something new and split the movement between liberal work reform efforts and pure anarchist ideal? I find myself more aligned with the 35-year-old single mother working at Walmart and just wanting to be paid a fair wage than the 21-year-old long-term unemployed anarchist, but both have their right to be unhappy and seek solidarity. So, do we continue to try and represent both interests or do we embrace the divide and give each their place to be represented? I don't want to see what we have built together be torn apart, but I think we have to address the clear divide and find a path forward.
