Why are ‘science and optimization-based’ intention communities not seen as tools to fix the problems in society that created r/antiwork?

Working to survive is a big reason why r/antiwork seems to have such a following. And I don't believe in a utopia but I do believe intentional communities have unrealized potential of getting as close as possible to solving this issue via focusing more on science and optimization of 'systems' to provide more equality in basic needs. Yet most intentional communities focus on escaping society for simpler lifestyles or at the extreme – a “hippie” lifestyle. Why there are little to no intentional communities that focus on science and optimization to improve society with systems to produce more than enough food, clothing and basic housing for everyone equally so as to prevent a society of “working to survive” which many people in r/antiwork have experienced?
