why are so many “Entry level” positions not entry level.

Kind of a rant but, I had a HR manager reach out to me on LinkedIn with a job opportunity that was actually very good. Close to home, good hours, and just so happens my bachelor's degree (Energy Geo-technology) directly correlates to the job, and my current full-time job also is nearly the same. I casually apply to an “entry level” position once a month for fun, and in 6 months have not heard back from a single place that pays more than $20/hr even after spending 100k on a degree that everyone told me I needed to be successful in high school. Spending this much for a degree feels like a waste of money.
