I’m so tired of this rhetorical question being asked if no one wants to listen or help teachers. Here’s why I was forced to leave…
Let’s begin a list:
1) ignoring my disability
2) restricting access to ada rights
3) telling me to work off the clock (hourly employee)
4) ignoring a student being sexually assaulted
5) telling me “if you can’t handle your disability, you shouldn’t work here”
5.5) removal of FLSA and ADA posters
6) promising not to follow the accommodation
7) using my accommadation as a weapon against me
8) demoting me after demanding and failing to finding no formal proof of my requests, documentation, or anything regarding my disability.
9) warning HR I would be retaliated against
10) subsequently retaliated against Because HR did nothing
11) discouraged from taking FMLA for my grandma dying of Cancer
12) HR admitting to having discriminated against me
13) HR admitting to FLSA violations
14) sending me, a gay man, to a psychologist who specializes in pedophilia
15) delaying pay
16) metadata tracking off the clock
17) disclosing another employees health information
18) leaving me alone with my trigger
19) locking me in a room with “hr” only to find out it’s the district lawyers.
20) often missing lunch breaks
21) telling the police I was going to blow up or shout up the school
22) ruining my thirtieth birthday by telling me no insurance company will care about my injuries
23) documenting as public record that my medications cause blackouts, when it’s her who caused it
24) never once giving me IEPs this year for services to my students
25) leaving me, a male, in charge of a female student who requires toileting
26) covering up a female para using the restroom with a male student who was not allowed to the stall.
27) telling me I can’t record even for my safety
This is a short list. I could go on. I want to. So badly.
